- Go for neutral colors. Every person has their own color preferences, so there is no point in trying to impress with the trendiest hues of the current year. Instead, go for time tested, classic and neutral colors, such as beige, taupe, cream, shades of grey, off white. If you want to add more color on an accent wall, shades of blue, green, or warm earth tones always have a nice general appeal.
Exterior paint averages $25-$40 a gallon, and a 3,000-square-foot home takes 15 or more gallons of paint, or $375-$600 just for the paint. However, really premium paint can cost $50-$100 a gallon, or $750-$1,500 for that large home. Doing it yourself also requires renting a pressure washer or sprayer for $50-$100 a day; extra-long ladders or scaffolding at $20-$75 daily; and a power sprayer for $50-$100 daily, plus masking tape, drop cloths and other supplies. However, it's possible to paint a large, two-story house for materials-only costs of $400-$600. Aurora House Painting
Can you paint your house yourself? DIY painting can save you thirty-percent over the cost of a contractor, but it’s a painstaking and time-consuming process. For every hour of labor saved, you’ll spend more money to buy paint without a discount, and you’ll have to rent equipment and purchase supplies that you may never use again. Hiring an expert is the best way to ensure the job is done right and with the least amount of disruption to your daily routine. Home Painters Aurora CO
Painting is one of the quickest and easiest ways to give your home's interior a facelift with dramatic results. Fortunately, it doesn't have to be that difficult. Home improvement stores offer samples that you can take home. With these samples, you can try a few colors in large swaths on your wall to see the how the paint interacts with the room's natural light. Compare it against design elements like pillows or furniture to see whether it will work with your overall décor.
Like metal siding, brick and masonry are easy to brush down and clean with a solution of water and triphosphate sodium — but they take longer to dry. They can be brush painted — but spray painting cost less – about $1.50–$2.00 per square foot. Both methods offer good coverage, but many painters recommend brush painting brick because it forces the paint into more nooks and crannies for a longer-lasting finish. Aurora Home Painting
The quality of your previous paint job, your climate and your home’s siding material may also factor in. Vinyl siding might never require repainting, but many homeowners choose to paint it once the original color starts to fade, usually after 10 to 15 years. Wood siding usually needs to be repainted every three to seven years, stucco every five to 10 years, brick and concrete siding every 10 to 15 years and metal siding every five years. The crew arrived on time, but did not bring a pressure cleaner with them. The insurance company clearly stated the charges for pressure cleaning before painting and I had confirmed this with the sales person. I went ahead and let the crew paint the trim without pressure cleaning and then found out that they did not have the custom paint color for the trim. The sales person had even taken a sample of the paint with him. The head painter (Angel) then left to get the paint while his assistant continued to prep and paint what he could with the paint they had. After a few hours I called the office and they said that Angel was still getting the paint. The assistant finished and ended up sitting on the front porch waiting. I had called the office again after a couple of hours as was told that Angel had gone back to their office in Plano to get the paint. I work in Plano and it only takes 45 minutes each way. Angel did not  return for 5 - 1/2 hours. They finished up and I had to reschedule them to come back out and pressure wash/paint the metal roof. Angel did pressurewash and complete the painting in a few hours. Home Painters Aurora CO
Most siding material needs at least some sort of scraping, sanding or stripping before repainting. Chipped or bubbled paint not firmly adhered to a surface creates a weak area that leaves fresh paint more vulnerable to damage. Scraping removes large loose pieces. Sanding then smooths the edges of whatever paint remains. Keep in mind the process varies based on the type of siding.
Better paints are thicker because they have a higher percentage of resin to water. You’ll pay more because there are more raw ingredients in the can, but each gallon covers more surface area and hides older colors more thoroughly. All-in-one paint and primer formulas are thicker versions of regular paint, and their coverage is exceptional. In the long run, you’ll save by using less, and the results will speak for themselves.
Choose the best quality paint you can afford; it lasts longer. Experts estimate that the outside of a house should be painted every 5-7 years, but less-expensive paint may start peeling or fading in 4 years or less while really high-quality paint will hold up a bit longer.
